In EDUC 256 we researched various apps that would assist our students and ourselves in our classroom management.
- Edmodo - A cross between Facebook and Moodle--students can interact with students and teacher.
- Upload assignment--can use towards flipped lessons.
- Can do alerts and reminders.
- Polls--can use in class or at home.
- Can record daily Schedule.
- Discover link: as a teacher can share resources with other teachers and obtain them.
- Con: could be distracted during class and there is a risk of cyber bullying.
- ClassDojo - Electronic version of Token Economy.
- Can log in as parent, teacher, or student.
- Reward students point for participating, being on task, and working hard.
- Can remove points for talking out, off task, unprepared.
- Shows where individuals are up as well as the whole class - keeps students updated on their progress.
- Provides instant notifications for your students (‘Well done Josh! +1 for teamwork!’)
- Gives you behavior-tracking analytic and reports can be shared with parents and administrators.
- Netop Vision - This allows the teacher to keep track of what each student is working on by seeing what is on their screen.
- Computer software.
- Allows teacher to monitor all connected computers.
- Many features, including communication one-on-one between teacher and student.
- Nearpod - An all-in-one solution for the use of mobile devises in education.
- Connects teacher iPads' with student devices.
- Students receive curriculum, presentations, etc straight on their own device.
- Students can then interact with the content and send in responses.
- With the school version, teachers can collaborate as well.
- MyHomework - An online organiser for students and teachers.
- Can add all of your classes and add different types of homework, presentations, papers, exams, etc.
- Can organize your homework by priority, type and class.
- You can set up a calendar to view the assignments.
- You can view homework as late, upcoming, and complete.
- Students can add teachers and teachers can update homework assignments and class info for the students.
- Teachers can also update and announcements for the class.
- Reminders, change in due dates, etc.
- Reminder 101 - Messenger.
- Teachers can send text message reminders to students, parents, other teachers, etc.
- Teacher’s Assistant - Contains all the information that a teacher would need on each student.
- Student profiles (allergies, who’s done their homework etc.)
- Send emails and resources.
- Email to parents.
- Keeps record of attendance and homework.
- Personalize student profiles.
- Draw Names - Draws names out of a hat when shaken.
- Raffle based on attendance, homework, etc.
- Student that gets drawn gets a prize/who to call on to evoke student participation.
- Teacher Kit - Communication between teacher, pupils and parents.
- Put each class roster in one place.
- Send emails to all students and parents.
- Add email addresses and phone numbers of students and parents.
- Send out individual or group communications.
- Sort students by first or last name or by grade averages.
- Quickly notate positive or negative behavior incidents.
- Easily add anecdotal comments about individual students.
- Seat Planner - Records student’s seats.
- Useful for substitute teacher to know if students are in their rightful seat.
- Helpful for teachers to get to know students.
